The third major project would be to install artificial turf at the current football field. This project would not only save water, which is becoming a more important issue every day here in southern Nevada, it would allow for more frequent use of the field throughout the year, including revenue generating opportunities for the school such as hosting youth league sports and tournaments as well as outside entities desiring to use our facilities for profit.
This project would also eliminate a recurrent problem on our site which is the under and overwatering of the field. Both of these situations cause long term problems for our students and athletes. Overwatering causes saturation which leads to pools of water forming on the field. When used by other groups in this condition, the playing surface becomes unstable which leads to injuries.
Estimated Cost: $750,000
